Luray Caverns is a well-known tourist destination in Virginia, consisting of a large cave system with a number of interesting formations. Most of the cave system can be visited on the ~1 1/4 mile (hiss! imperial system) tour, taking about an hour. Here are some pictures from the tour:
Of course, at the end of the tour, they take you through the gift shop, which is full of various rock-themed merchandise (we didn’t get any). In addition to the caverns themselves, the immediate area contains a number of other attractions, including an $9/person (ropes? climbing? challenge?) course. Here are some photos of us walking around on it:
Luray caverns is excellent for anyone who wants to visit some caverns.
